"The Slugger" the movie began as a result of completing my documentary  "Buckeye Cubbie: Woody English" Woody was Hack Wilson's friend and fellow Cub (as well as previously fellow Toledo Mud Hen).  

I found out about the biography "Fouled Away: the Baseball Tragedy of Hack Wilson" by Clifton Blue Parker and read about the hard luck life of one of baseball's lost legends.   In December 2008 I bought the movie rights and began writing. I finished  "HACK" on March 9th. As of April 2, 2009, I renamed the movie "The Slugger" as a more apt title to suggest Hack's strength and weaknesses in all the "fields" of  baseball, assaults, and drinking.
